Thanks again to Marty, Al Patti for the T-Shirts. The shirts are very needed and appreciated since clean, comfortable clothing is hard to come by. I saw Roger wearing one today and pictured is Tony.
I Delivered Rogers IPod back to him today after he thought there was an issue with it. We discovered he wasn’t charging it correctly. It turned out to be an opportunity to place more songs from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s per his request. He goes on and on about how fantastic it is to have this music to listen to again; to escape for a moment and experience pure joy. When I drove away the first thing he did was to sit down, take a break from panhandling and listen to it. Thanks again Tony Buffone for the Ipod, Roger loves it so much.
Somebody asked me recently, playing devils advocate, if the care bags were enabling the homeless? My responce is a long winded description of what I’ve seen personally. These bags aren’t “enabling” anything, as if these bags and others like it make it “worth it” to live on the streets. These bags are not enough, the bags are the very least I can do; they are brief, momentary amounts of kindness. I explain everything that is good that has happened because of these bags, the relationships and trust formed to accomplish other positive events. To get these people off the streets it takes a huge effort from them as well as a huge help from the outside. It requires effort. All good things require effort and fortitude.

My friend, Nathan Schill just sent me a few of the pictures he took as part of the care bags fundraiser rewards. Its just one of the amazing photos he took and I had to share it with you. There are more but this is just a taste. This sign belongs to Michael. The photo speaks for itself…I cant stop looking at these. care-bags.org, ‪#‎ShareTheCare‬, ‪#‎carebags‬

Today I collected a lot more footage from Teresa’s filming. Im getting ready to upload it in a few minutes and take a look. When I walked up to her today, out of pure excitement, she started to tell me the footage this time was “100% better” than the last! I traded another camera with her and wonder how long this will continue? I love the idea of her continued filming and giving everyone an access impossible otherwise. I may upload a small portion to Facebook after I take a look at what she has this week. Huge thanks to Marty Patti Al Patti for the second year in a row, sending this huge box with over 75 t-shirts for the homeless. Always a great friend and supporter. I love driving around my community and seeing my homeless friends wearing shirts from my hometown…these shirts will have a large impact. I want to thank Lori Mitchell and her family for their constant support. Lori donated this gently used Ipod for the Ipod program I have for the homeless. http://www.care-bags.org/?page_id=659
I can take a working, gently used IPod and download the preferred music to it for one of the homeless in my neighborhood. Music really effects everyone the same way, as a distraction, an inspiration and a brief escape. Lori also gave me a couple cases of Gatorade and cases of Fiber One bars, Belvita bars, GoGo SqueeZ and others! care-bags.org, ‪#‎ShareTheCare‬, ‪#‎carebags‬

Its the 100th week of making and delivering care bags. The total is now over 539 care bags for the homeless of Logan Square, Chicago.

Today is also Michael’s 28th birthday (See video below). May 4th is a pretty important Star Wars day and he didn’t even know that! I had to school him that he shares his birthday with a pretty big nerd day. I picked him up a Birthday card and gave him some cash. I hope he does something fun today to celebrate.

I also talked to Teresa. She has been busy with the HD video recorder I loaned her. Shes taken about 15 short videos so far and Is enjoying sharing aspects of her life. I cant wait to get the footage to Nathan for editing and show all of you. Its a day in the life of Teresa.
