January 3, 2013, Week 40, making and delivering care bags to the homeless of Logan square. 210 care bags have been made as of today.
I was held up a bit over Christmas in my hometown of Indiana, PA. I got pneumonia and it kept me from making the drive back on the date I originally planned. The good news was a clothing drive was held at Brunzies Bar, Indiana, PA with the help of Kris Brunz, Julie Thomas and Lisa Harvan Kusneski. Many articles of winter wear clothing was brought in and most was distributed locally to those in need. The rest, winter coats, lighter weight jackets and some boots came back with me for the homeless in my community.
January 12, 2014, Week 41, making and delivering care bags to the homeless of Logan square. 216 care bags have been made as of today. Thanks to the great efforts of Kelly Stobart andDawn Stobart and their Care Bag Drive at Beauty and Balance Salon. During the months of November and December we estimate around 50 care bags were made by the families of Kenilworth, IL and dropped off to the salon for me to pick up. Its inspiring to think of those families that participated, the caring and thought that went into their bags, the mindset they were in and the permanent effect it has on their children that helped with the project.
January 21, 2014, Week 42, making and delivering care bags to the homeless of Logan square. 223 care bags have been made as of today, including a bag for Jamie Leah Burton to distribute. Jamie, a Logan Square resident, wants to get more involved with the homeless of our community. I’m very grateful for the many people that step up and want to help. I couldn’t do this, with such growth and public awareness without the help from my new and old friends. Pamela Topick Fox, Bud was very happy to hear how you made a connection to him from his video interview with me. Its so cold today, hes panhandling right now in fact and I know just the thought of someone, from so far away wanted to help him, is making things just a little easier to manage. Thank you for that.
*******Please, anyone in the Logan Square area, please help Roger (panhandling at Elston/Fullerton, near the tennis club) by driving by with a small monetary donation today or tomorrow. He will not go into a shelter, he suffers from mental illness and will not put himself around too many people. Roger has been outside the entire polar vortex. Hes currently sleeping behind a nearby dumpster. You can make a world of difference in these sever temperatures by driving by and handing him a little cash out your car window so that he can rent a room during this current cold front. Thank you so much my local friends. Please help him, you can tell him I sent you.*****
January 29, 2014, Week 43, making and delivering care bags to the homeless of Logan square. 228 care bags have been made as of today.
I need to get back on track for weekend deliveries. The extreme cold combined with my schedule has pushed the deliveries to mid week, but Ill get back on weekends next delivery. I’m anxious to share my new dog, Mickey, with the friends I’ve made. I think they will enjoy seeing him. Today is too cold to take him out but maybe next week.
