Thanks to a lot of support and caring from friends. One of the more significant things I’ve learned along the way is the assumptions placed on the homeless population. A year ago, I was lumping this group in with the starving, the completely deprived; that’s not the way to think about the homeless to get an accurate grasp on their situation. It is not appropriate to place the adage, “beggars cant be choosy”. Its these false assumptions that provoke people to clean out their pantries or refrigerators and donate expired or inappropriate food items, cause confusion and anger when a homeless person is dressed a little “too well” for their liking or talking on a cell phone. We dont know the details of other peoples situations and assuming only clouds understanding. This is true of most situations. Put thought and caring into what you donate and never give a person anything you wouldn’t want yourself. Thanks everybody for spreading the awareness…Here’s to another couple of hundred bags!
